Hello Cherished Bliss readers! How exciting to help Ashley celebrate 300 followers! Always fun to reach those milestones in “blog land”!
I’m Melanie….
I blog over at Reasons To Skip The Housework - a place for me to do just about anything, other than the housework! I showcase craft and recipe tutorials, menu planning, grocery tips, printables, and so much more!
I also have an Etsy shop – Tinker B Boutique, where I showcase my Scrabble Tile Pendants.
I’ve got the easiest sewing tutorial to share with you!
Since I have a baby shower to attend this weekend, it was the perfect time to make a custom gift for a friend and share the tutorial with you. SO super easy to make.
Let me tell you, I am NOT a sewer…I’m a level below novice…if there was such a level! So, the fact that I am able to sew these things, makes it a super easy beginner tutorial for anyone to use!
I buy white cloth diapers to use as burp cloths – they were the most wonderful for our refluxer during her first year…so absorbent and large!
I bought these for this project: {although the package looks different now!}
You’ll also need fabric, an iron, and a sewing machine! First of all, wash the fabric and diapers up and then iron them all up!
Then, you want to cut a piece of fabric a few inches wider than the center section and just as long as the diaper. I used those pre-cut swatches that you find at Joann’s all wrapped up and they’re the perfect length!
Fold the fabric and iron the edges down all neatly!
Then, pin that sucker on!
Sew using a zig-zag stich over the edge of the
fabric on all four sides.
For the “burp” word cloth, I used the Sihouette Fabric Interfacing and a matching piece of fabric.
You iron the “rough” side of the interfacing onto the back of the fabric.
Stick it on the cutting mat, into the Silhouette, and voila…your letters are cut out! I heart my Silhouette!
{I ended up using different letters than this fabric, but forgot to take a picture of it!}
I was able to make all four of these in two nap sessions.
Now, THAT’S a fast project and an inexpensive, sweet baby gift!

Very cute! I wish I could sew.. not even sure if there is a needle and thread in my house, but adore stuff like this and always love these as gifts!!
Adorable! I definitely need to get a silhouette some day!
These are so cute! Cloth diapers do a great job sopping up the messes babies make!
So cute and they look really easy to make. I'll have to add tese to my list of crafts to make. :)
Absolutely darling tutorial!
Love it :) Sally

LOVE this idea! So cute and with my basic sewing skills, I think I could handle it! Now I just need to convince my husband on baby #3! (:
Super cute! I have a couple baby showers coming up and I am not much of a sewer, but I do know a little.
Thanks!
very cute
This is so great! I just realize this morning that I need to start thinking about some gifts for my niece who is expecting in July! These are really adorable! Sadly I don't have a Silouette so I'll have to do the letters by hand but this is really cute!
