Hi there! I’m Kimberly from A Night Owl, a blog about what I can get accomplished when work is over and the kids are in bed! When Ashley first approached us with the idea of Christmas in July and getting started on making gifts for our children, I knew EXACTLY what I was going to make. I have two small boys, ages 1 and 3, and right now cars rule their world! And ours. And I’ve seen similar ideas on Pinterest (I don’t have a specific pin or source), but a while back I purchased the supplies needed to make our own felt racetrack for the boys to play with.
All you need is a large piece of felt for the base, several black felt squares, one yellow felt square, and a glue gun with fabric glue.
I simply marked a line down the middle of each black felt square (with chalk) and cut along those lines.
I then lined up two “road pieces” and drew a rounded corner with chalk and cut to make four pieces for the corners of the racetrack.
I then laid out all of the straight road pieces with the four rounded corners on the large piece of felt. Once the track was laid out the way I wanted it to be, I glued each piece down with the hot glue gun and fabric glue.
I then cut the yellow felt square into long, skinny rectangles to create the lane dividers. I simply arranged and glued those pieces down as well.
And voila! It was an easy, no-sew project that I KNOW my boys will love! And best of all, I can just roll it up and stick it in the closet once they’re done.
Well I hope that helps give you a good idea of something to make for your kids for Christmas if you have little boys! I can’t wait to see the smiles on my boys’ faces! And a big thanks to Ashley for having me today. I can’t wait to see all the other great ideas the other ladies have!
