Grandparents Day Plaque {Tales of the Scotts}

Hi!  My name is Eva and I blog over at Tales of the Scotts.
I’m a stay-at-home momma to two very busy little people.  I’m a pastor’s wife.  I love creating and blogging.  Over at my blog, you’ll find crafts of all sorts, scrapbooking, sewing, a few recipes and funny stories of my kiddos.  I love seeing everything that Ashley comes up with.  Her daughter’s Pink Lemonade birthday party was inspiration for my daughter’s Pink Lemonade birthday party!  I also love all of her projects involving die cuts!Today I’m here to share with you what I made for Grandparents Day.

I’ve known for a while that this is the phrase I wanted to use for Grandparents Day.  You know that kids are usually allowed to get away with more and eat extra junk food at their grandparents’ house.  :-)

Want to make one of your own?  Or something similar?  Here’s what I did.  Grab a piece of wood.  My husband nor I are handy with the saw so I bought mine from a craft store and used a coupon.  I wanted my letters to be white so I spray painted the wood piece white.  You can use any color you like though.

Then I used my Silhouette Studio to create my design.

Instead of using up my vinyl, I just grabbed some random contact paper I bought years ago from Wal-Mart.  I slipped it into my Cameo and cut it out.  Then I pealed away the “extra” vinyl.  Right before I attached the letters to the piece of wood, I sprayed the wood with some spray adhesive.  I’ve had problems in the past getting vinyl to stick to the wood and someone suggested some adhesive.  I did that and it worked great!

I tried my best to line everything up using a ruler and taping as I went.  But try as hard as I did, I still messed up a bit.  You can see that “stays at” isn’t lined up with everything else.  After the letters were in place, I spray painted it.  I let it dry just a bit, maybe an hour or so, before removing the letters.  I didn’t want them to get stuck there!

When it was completely dry, I measured and put a sawtooth hanger in place so that it can be hung easily.

And here’s the one I made for Nana & Papa.

I love how they turned out.  And this was such an easy project that can be done for anything or any holiday!  Your imagination is the limit!

Thank you so much for having me Ashley!  I had a great time!
