I’m so excited to say that Adam’s nursery if FINALLY taking shape since my original design board! If you are new here I am going with a Vintage Travel Theme. I am so close to finishing I can taste it! But for today I’m going to share with you how to make the easiest no sew DIY crib skirt tutorial. The best part? Once you are done with the crib don’t have to get rid of your “skirt” because you can reuse the fabric! : )
Oh, and it’s adjustable too! Even better right? So let’s take a look at how to do this!
The color is amazing and it matches PERFECTLY with his dresser! Which in case you were wondering is my new favorite color!! : )
DIY Crib Skirt Tutorial:
Now you just need to measure your crib from the highest setting. Measure the height of the platform to the floor x2, and the distance across the platform. Add those together and that is your number! This particular fabric was wide enough for the longest part of the crib so I just used the width of the fabric. To cut burlap you just pull one of the strands out (like you are ruffling it) and then cut along the gap it leaves so it won’t unravel. I didn’t even finish my edges.
*If you want to finish your edges be sure and add the seam allowance into your measurements.
Then once it’s cut, you just drape it over the platform.
Once you do this, the ends will need to be covered. So take some more measurements and cut your fabric. Since this isn’t as wide you will need to cut the width of the fabric to fit the crib. I added a few extra inches to mine so it would ruffle a little. I just bunched it up until it looked good (no ruffling necessary) Once you put the mattress on top, it will stay.
I’m not exactly sure how many yards this used. I would say 4-5 depending on how much fabric you need to cover your crib, so be sure to measure before you buy your fabric. You are also going to want it in a single cut since you are using the majority of it in two pieces. So now just put your mattress on top. and tuck under any edges you don’t want seen.
So now, once your baby outgrows his crib, you will have all this fabric to work with. I am all about reusing things as much as possible to get my money’s worth!
I am so excited about this burlap crib skirt! It makes me one happy mama! I can’t wait to share the whole room with you I just have to decorate the shelves and make some curtains! eeeek! So close! : )
So what do you think? Do you love the burlap? I am in LOVE with this color!
