Anyways, I shared this over at Before Meets After a few days ago, so in case you missed it, here you go : )! I truly love this ornament and have it hanging on a small set of “cabin” trees I have…. next year it will be on the big tree with the rest of it’s “family”!
Burlap Christmas Ornament
I’d like to say that I made a bunch of these ornaments since my plan was to have a whole burlap themed Christmas this year… but I failed. I only made one. However, I love it so much and will be making more…just later in 2012 (haha)! This was and is a crazy Christmas season for us. The hubs and I are in charge of the Christmas play at church, we have a whole bunch of birthdays in November/December including my sons (who’s sadly I have not started planning and is in 7 days – luckily he’s only 4 and doesn’t realize it yet) Next year I’ll have to start planning his birthday in October to avoid the Christmas rush!
These are really easy to make! Here is what you will need:
{Supplies}
-Burlap scraps or 1/4 yard if you need to go buy some.
-Styrofoam balls or news paper
-small amount of yarn if you use newspaper
-hot glue
-ribbon or something else to hang it from
{Tutorial}
1. if you have a styrofoam ball then you can skip this step
Take about a half sheet of newspaper and wad it up into a ball, then wrap some yarn around so it holds it’s shape.
2. Glue ribbon (I used raffia) into a loop so you can hang your ornament
3. Cut burlap into little squares. Fold in half. Put a dot of hot glue on the center of the folded edge, and fold over so the hot glue sticks and holds it into place.
4. Glue the bottom corner of all the pieces onto your ball as close together as you can. Repeat until your ball is completely covered. I pulled out all the loose strands of burlap once I was done, but you don’t have to.
Now you have your very own Burlap Ornament!

I love this, I am so hopelessly addicted to burlap. I have one styrofoam ball, already has a twine hanger hot-glued to it … ready for something – now I have that something! Can't wait to make it and hang it somewhere special. Thanks so much for the tutorial.
