I have always struggled with what my style is. Is it Cottage? Vintage? Farmhouse? There are so many options out there, and I find myself pinning beautiful pictures from each of the different genres! When I picture all the things I want to do in our new house, most of it has a “vintage” feel. But when I think vintage I think white (I can’t deny it, I love white) and beige, and not really a whole lot of color. I love color too. I like having colored furniture. So what does this mean for me? Vintage Eclectic!
I love the idea of being able to have a vintage room, but bringing in other elements that you love. It just fits my personality. I change my mind often, so when I feel like take a different route, I can usually switch up my accessories, and my “base look” remains pretty vintage.
Let’s talk about some of why I love this Vintage Eclectic look.
For example this kitchen from The DIY Showoff. You see some unexpected things in there, but this is why I love it so much. It’s not too often you see a little red distressed dresser in a kitchen right? You’ll notice there isn’t really much red in the rest of the kitchen, but it just works! There is that good ole’ eclectic feel, perfectly blended with vintage! To me the eclectic comes from putting something unexpected in with something else to make it beautiful! And this kitchen displays that perfectly!
Let’s switch it around a little. Maybe you take something a little more modern and add some vintage too it. Throw in a beautifully bright color and BAM! You have a focal point in your room, like this stunning sideboard from Better Homes and Gardens.
Maybe you are feeling a little rustic? That’s ok! Kim from Too Much Time created this bedroom with a perfect blend of vintage and rustic, and what’s that on the wall? It’s electrical tape and a paper airplane outline? Love it!
Vintage Ecclectic really covers a wide range of ideas here! For example, this Kitchen Cart from Sauder, it has nice clean lines, with a fantasic color that will go with most anything, but it just feels a little vintage to me. Is it old? No. Would it fit in a vintage kitchen? You bet it would! I could even see this in a playroom for kids! Totally love that it’s on wheels!
This clean vintage look is exactly what I was going for when I created my son’s nursery.
I wanted it to feel vintage, but like we were living in the era it came from. Normally I love to distress things. It was hard but I didn’t put my sandpaper to any of this furniture with the intention of distressing. Oh it was hard! BUT I love how the dresser looks so clean, but still maintains a “vintage” feel. You can see the full room tour here.
So if you are on the hunt for some great furniture that will give you this look affordably, I have found some great pieces for you that would fit with any room in your house!
I love these yellow chairs! I might have a borderline chair obsession! You obviously need them in your dining room, but you can put these in the bathroom, the living room, kids rooms, or your room! These have that perfect Vintage Eclectic Vibe. The design reminds me of something older, but they are clean and totally rockin a fantastic yellow!
