So remember from yesterday I told you about my new AWESOME sponsor? Well, I have a short interview from her so you can all get to know her!
Hey Everyone!
My name is Jenna and I am a 20-something little lady soon to be married to the man of my dreams on Dec.31, 2011! I love Jesus, my fiance (Noland),cooking, wedding planning, couponing, crafting, writing (movie reviews & watchin my shows), reading, picture taking, spending time with family, all things artistic and life! I’m relatively new to blogging and I love to share my likes, dislikes and just plain & simple entertain you. I have the most adorable nephews that I named my blog after, for the full story, stay tuned! Excited to meet and get to know each of you… now come on over and visit my blog! :)
1. How did you come up with such a cute blog name?
So I totally stole a “saying” from one of my nephews.. here’s the story: I have 2 nephews, 2 soon-to-be nephews and 1 soon-to-be niece, who are soo fun! I love talking to all of them on the phone, kids just say the darnedest things! My little nephew is two and goes to a pre-school a couple days a week. One day, his class was painting and the teacher went around asking each child what they were painting.. She said “Johnny, What are you painting?” and Johnny replied, “a house.” Then she said, “Suzy, what are you painting?” and Suzy said, “my dog.” When the teacher approached my nephew she said, “Jack, what are you painting?” and he replied, “Its just called spicy.” He’s so funny, what a little personality!
So, when I decided to start blogging, I was trying to think of a creative blog name– you know one that was really catchy.. and “its just called spicy” stuck..
If you ever wondered what spicy looked like.. here it is, according to my nephew:
I like crafts a lot but I feel that crafting requires a lot of time and money sometimes.. so lately I’ve really enjoyed cooking, baking, and anything in the kitchen…and I love desserts! and I love easy recipes that you can scrounge up with what you have have in your pantry.. those are the best! No need to shop and plan out a list a head of time, just use what you got. All in all, I definitely have a sweet tooth but I might need to take a break from that soon ;) haha.. gotta fit in my wedding dress.
3. What do you do when you are not blogging?
I am currently in graduate school for my Masters degree in Social Work… I want to help people. I love kids and elderly. So when I’m not blogging, I’m usually doing homework haha. My fiance (Noland) works at a local Catholic school as a PE coach so I also substitute there sometimes. Also recently, I’ve been coaching JV soccer to middle school-ers at Noland’s school which is something that is really fun.
4. What are some other blogs that inspire you?
Well one of my best friends, Victoria, started a blog to share her gift of writing at Marie Tea (marietea.blogpsot.com). She is such a wonderful writer and shares pieces of her heart on her blog, I just love reading about her and her family.. We used to live in the same city and have both moved recently so its also a great way to keep in touch and be in the know about her life besides talking on the phone regularly..
The blog that inspired me to start my own blog was My Yellow Sandbox (myyellowsandbox.blogspot.com) . I found her blog during her 30 days of hairstyles and I just thought it was really neat the way she shared her life and creativity. I’ve always been pretty creative and crafty so she really gave me confidence to let me know I could do this.
And the last blog that inspires me is one that really helped me at the beginning of my blogging journey- The Crafty Scientist (thecraftyscientist.com).. I emailed Mel (the author) early on when I was pretty new to blogging and she has just been so supportive and helpful…
5. Why did you originally start your blog?
Well, I’m getting married soon so I thought it would be a neat way to document parts of my life up to the wedding as well as share crafty/yummy aspects of life… Since I started my blog, I’ve decided I’ll probably share a lot of the wedding happenings after the wedding.. Don’t want to spoil any surprises!
