Lately I have been a little obsessed with birds. I think it all started with this scrapbook paper I found at Hobby Lobby with birds all over it. So cute!
I’m finally taking down my Valentine Mantel and decorating it for spring/Easter so I knew I wanted to make some little birdies! : )
Aren’t they cute?!
I want to make them in all kinds of fabric! I also used these little guys on my Spring Wreath
I’m also really into easy projects. Mainly because my kids can’t live without me for more than 5 minutes and let’s face it… my kids faces are way cuter than these birds : ) So this is a super quick and easy tutorial, I hope you will love birds as much as I do after you see how fast these are to make!
I had a little too much fun taking pictures of them. It sort of felt a little bit like I was playing with them, but I needed a day of fun! (these birds particularly liked sitting in branches…hehe)
{Here is what you need}
–This Birdie Template
– Some scraps of really cute fabric
– You could even hand sew this if you want!
{Tutorial}
ONE.
Cut out two pieces of the template, make sure and turn the template over, or fold the fabric so that the right sides of the fabric face out! Then cut out a little half circle for the wing and shape it however you want. I just cut out the wings as I went along.
TWO.
Sew the wings on with a zig zag stich.
THREE.
With wrongs sides of the fabric together, sew around the edge of the bird. Leave a little hole for some stuffing.
Using the fabric you cut the template out with, just stuff a little in there for some pouf : )
Then sew up the hole.
And that is it!
I can’t wait to show you want I used my birdies for! Let’s just say they are used in my mantel : )
Have a beautiful day and make some birdies!
