Create a meaningful and memorable gift for your loved ones with this easy to follow tutorial on how to Carve Wooden Spoons!
Is there something that you’ve always wanted to try? I’ve always wanted to try my hand at wood carving but just never knew where to start.
The more I build furniture the more I fall in love with all things woodworking and I’m really excited to share my newest venture with you. It’s something that I need more practice on and something I’m excited to improve my skills with, but more importantly it is a great stress reliever for me. Everyone needs something to just sit back and relax with and enjoy the little moments, am I right?
I want to say this is an easy tutorial and anyone can do it.. and it is, but I think with this tutorial you have to be prepared for slow work. It’s not something to rush through or to try and learn as quickly as possible. Carving spoons is an art and when done with love and patience you will find your finished project to be just what you were looking for. Creating a spoon isn’t about being perfect, it’s much like life and all about enjoying the journey.
There is something special that comes with each piece of wood you shave off, it’s a beautiful transformation. It’s the relaxing part of this journey!
I’m teaming up with Ryobi for this post and sharing the tutorial over at Ryobi Nation for these rustic wooden spoons, but I wanted to share with you the carving tools that I used.

I am most interested in fashion design, metallurgy, carpentry, and masonry. One of my favorite summer jobs was working with my uncle on his rock laying sites. My official job was to help rake mortar joints and fetch supplies. I really enjoyed it and would do it again in a heartbeat! If my uncle were still alive I would probably beg him to let me tag along again.
