This beautiful Modern Farmhouse Christmas Tree was easily created with chalkboard and galvanized metal ornaments followed by a few hints of red.
Hello friends! I’m back this week with my sweet blogging friends to take you on a little tour of our Christmas Trees. If you’re stopping by from My Fabuless Life, Welcome, I’m so happy you’re here. Be sure to make it to the bottom of the post to see the 8 remaining, jaw dropping Christmas Trees! You can also check out last week’s tour of our Entryway.
Every year when I pull out the Christmas decorations I’m immediately flooded with mom guilt. Guilt because my job occasionally takes over those simple moments others get to share with their families. You know the moments….where you sit peacefully on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate and a Christmas movie playing in the background as your children put all the ornaments in one localized area of the family tree. Don’t get me wrong, I’m certainly not complaining! I love my job, and I love that I can do it from home and often involve my kids in ways that others might not be able to. It’s just a delicate balance I face on a daily basis.
Typically we have two trees one that I decorate because one is what I love, and the other one I let my kids go crazy. In our new house we don’t really have a spot for two trees, so I had to find that balance of allowing my kids to decorate and having a tree that I can photograph for my job. I know I know, first world problems, lol! BUT I am SO proud of my kids because they totally know how I’m different from most moms. They are used to me having to photograph things before they can touch it (despite the fact that they always try). They truly do understand that I have to work in our home.
This year I set the box of ornaments I wanted on the tree down and told them to decorate my tree for the blog. I saw the smiles on their little faces as they eagerly ran around doing their best to make it “photo-worthy”. And you know what? They did a pretty stinkin amazing job! I’ll admit I had to move a few ornaments that they hung on the red berry stems, but I felt I was within my “normal” mom’s OCD rights to casually move a few that just drove me nuts. But overall ladies and gents…. my kids decorated this tree! It sure makes this mama happy to be able to combine work and family in a way that makes everyone giddy inside!
I guess this is good training for my daughter since she wants to be a blogger when she grows up. hehe. I can’t even handle the cuteness sometimes!
I can admit that I have a hard time not being in control, especially when it comes to the house. This Christmas season is a big step forward for me because last year Ashley would have totally taken over the tree.
This year Ashley totally rocked, and so did my kids!
Modern Farmhouse Christmas Tree
I just want to thank ya’ll so much for reading this little blog of mine. Sometimes it feels a little bit like I’m talking to myself. I got a message from a reader today and she shared with me how my tutorials helped her decorate their bathroom. It seriously makes my heart smile to know that I am helping someone out there! So THANK YOU!
I hope you enjoyed our little family Christmas tree. Next up on the tour is A Burst of Beautiful, where you will get the pleasure of seeing a gorgeous Navy and Gold Christmas Tree.
Don’t forget to come back next week where you will get to take a stroll through our living rooms!

Thank you for your candid honesty. It reassures me that there’s still hope for my home to be beautiful amongst the business of child rearing!
I love this! And you made me laugh, because I can totally relate to the “don’t touch that before photos,” thing. It looks so pretty and your kids did an awesome job!
Just beautiful! What a great job!!
My compliments to your kiddos for the very fine job of decorating your tree. It looks beautiful. You have taught them well, design sensei. Happy Holidays, Ardith

They did a wonderful job!! And good for you, allowing them to help, I know that can be hard, especially with what we do. Such a fine line between work and everyday life.
