Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz fresh or frozen cranberries (approximately 3 cups), rinsed
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice with pulp
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
Instructions
- In a medium sauce pan dissolve sugar in 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 of orange juice over medium low heat.
- Then add cranberries and return to a gentle boil for 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat.
- Serve warm or let the sauce completely cool.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve if needed.
Notes
The sauce thickens as it cools. Garnish with fresh orange zest for presentation. Not only is this sauce a great addition to the Thanksgiving table, it also makes wonderful jelly for toast, bagels, and rolls. This recipe makes approximately 2 cups, double if needed.
**If you prefer to not use the orange juice, you may replace it with 1/2 cup water for a total of 1 cup, and increase the sugar to 1 cup as well.
