Not only is it functional to store all those little pieces you have left over, it is a great piece of art!!
{So Easy to Make}
All I did was paint the frame, add the hooks and I used DIY colored bakers twine for the string. Then, string on the wooden spools and tie it off… super easy!

I placed this little frame on some shelves I painted in my craft room. I’m a little unhappy with the colors of the shelves so I’m sure I will be repainting those soon… you’ll get to see with my full craft room reveal (one day) : )!

  1. Okay, the bright and cheerful colors from your post just made me smile! I love your duo of shelves, and the frame for your spools of thread? Fabulous! I'd be thrilled if you'd come and share this at the Head to Head Showdown, going on right now at http://www.icantstopcrafting.blogspot.com ~Jen

  2. This is really funny I was only looking at little wooden spools today and my craft store thinking these would look cool with ribbon or cottong on them on a frame or something like that and then I come home to do a bit of surfing and found this!!! This is great I love the bright colours and you have definitely motivated me. I am going back Thursday I think I will be picking up a bag of these!

    Thanks for sharing!

    Love your idea! The turquoise and yellow look very happy together. I scored some old wooden spools at the thrift store a while back. This would be a great use for them when I'm done using the thread.
