I just finished this dresser a few days ago and I am so excited about it. However, once I was done painting and finishing it up, every time I opened the drawers I kind of threw up in my mouth a little. It had this horrible drawer liner stuff in the bottom and crayon marks on the inside so I knew I needed to cover that up! Off to Joann’s

Here is how it turned out!
This did not take me very long at all! Anyone can line a drawer with fabric. Now, don’t look too close because I wasn’t super meticulous with the measurements because well, let’s be honest here… I have two kids and there will be stuff piled in here soon enough. But you don’t notice any mistakes unless you are looking for them! That’s what I tell myself anyway.
{Supplies}
-Fabric of your choice (measure your drawers first to figure out yardage)
-Modge Podge
-Foam brush
-Tape measure
-Scissors or rotary cutter
-Modge Podge

{Tutorial}
1. First you are going to want to measure each of the four sides of the inside of the drawer (write them down) – because no matter how much you think you can remember it, you will forget when you go to cut it… at least that’s what I hear ; )
Then measure out the bottom of the drawer

2. Once you have your pieces cut out start with the side pieces first. I just slapped on some modge podge and the lined up the fabric and then started adhering it, working my way from the top to bottom pushing out any air bubbles. If you mess up, just pull it up and reset it. Work your way around all 4 sides and then do the bottom of the drawer last.

3. After all the inside is covered I put another layer of modge podge on top of the fabric. Now for the bottom piece, you don’t have too… I ran out and only did it to one drawer, as long as you get enough underneath you don’t HAVE to do it, but the sides really need it to make sure they stay put!
4. After you do this you will think… oh, I covered up the holes for the handles… this is ok, don’t freak out! (I only say this because for a moment a thought ran through my head that I ruined the whole drawer… then I came back to reality and realized “Hey Ashley, you just have to poke a hole”) So I got a screwdriver and poked a hole. Then you just screw on your handles : ) – major crisis avoided!
Now you have some beautiful fabric lined drawers and your husband will look at you like you have gone mad and are now gluing fabric in places nobody will ever see it! But then he tells you how beautiful it is and how good of a job you did!

I love this! I have a nightstand I am currently working on. It is basic antique white but I thought it would be fun to add a little suprise inside by painting the drawers a contrast color. Now I think Fabric may be my answer as well! How far down does the fabric go on the sides? I see that it wraps over the edge just not sure how far.

This is too cute! Fabric holds onto scents longer, it would be nice to empty the drawers and spritz some perfume every few months :)
