This is our first house ever with a basement. I didn’t know what I was missing out on! It’s been great to have this much indoor storage. Lucky for us half of our basement was finished when we bought it, giving us the perfect spot for a playroom. My husband plays guitar though and I wanted him to have a “man space” too since I’ve taken over the garage and pretty much the rest of the basement with all my blog stuff! You’ll have to excuse all my pictures, photographing the dark basement has exceeded my photography skills and I had a heck of a time! It’s not quite this yellow down here, although the paint color is pretty awful.
This room is far from complete. I still need to paint the trim and walls, but we are slowly headed in the right direction. It’s actually quite a large room, but this little space is where the man cave portion resides. Over behind the couch will be a little play area for the kids and off to the left is a little arts and crafts area for the my little future bloggers, but those are posts for another day : )
Let’s take a look at the before. Originally I was working towards creating just a playroom, but I think it’s current state is working for the whole family now. The rustic shelf got moved over to the other side, and I can’t wait to share that space with you!
The thing I’m most excited about in this room is the new media stand from Sauder. It doesn’t take up a ton of wall space, but still offers great storage. The top drawer also flips up so that you can store any game consoles, dvd players, and other electronics.
When we have guests over we typically end up down here in a desperate attempt to control our little ones. It’s the perfect spot for everyone to gather while the kids play in the other areas, so I wanted to make sure we had a little extra seating down here. Our new Addison Accent Chair is not only great because it’s my daughter’s name, but it’s extremely comfortable, and again without taking up a huge amount of space!
For a side table we used this adjustable table from Sauder. I love SO much that I can adjust the height since I seem to be moving furniture around all the time and I can adjust it however tall or short I need it to be!
Our new space has become a great little place for my kids to play board games. Their new favorite is this vintage looking bingo set (affiliate link) I picked up the other day.
So that’s it for our Man Cave Makeover. I’m pretty excited to put some finishing touches on our whole downstairs basement, and I will definitely be taking you on that journey with me!
