Check out these 5 easy tips for Instant Curb Appeal that anyone can do to instantly improve their home value! Thank you to Ryobi for sponsoring this post. All opinions are 100% my own.
Over the last year we have tackled a lot of projects on our home’s exterior. We had all windows, siding, and the roof replaced which helped TREMENDOUSLY. However, we were still lacking majorly in the curb appeal. We had our yard completely tilled and replanted grass at the end of last summer. This year our goal was to add some curb appeal to our home!
Tips for Adding Curb Appeal to Your Home
These projects require very little time and provide such drastic results! So let’s jump right in these curb appeal projects!
Edge Your Lawn
Keeping a straight edge against the edges of sidewalks and driveways instantly gives your lawn a manicured look. We have a pretty small lawn so we use our 40-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Electric Cordless String Trimmer. Ryobi also offers an edging attachment if you have lots of distance to cover.
Trim around landscaping
Very similar to edging, when you trim all the grass around your landscaping it provides a much cleaner/manicured look to your yard. When you mow your lawn without trimming you are left with a well cut lawn and long pieces of grass sticking up in front of all your landscaping rocks and decor giving it a messy appearance. With the 40-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Electric Cordless String Trimmer you don’t have to worry about mixing oil and gas. It starts right up and anyone can use this yard tool for clean lines!
Mow your Lawn Often
I’ve noticed a lot of people cut their lawn really short to extend the amount of time in between mowings. However, this can actually damage your lawn. When you cut it too short it can seriously drain the grass’s energy reserves, weaken, or kill the grass leaving it vulnerable to weeds. So maintaining a proper height is essential to keeping a thick, lush green lawn.
We recently got to try out the Ryobi 40-Volt Brushless Cordless Self-Propelled Lawn Mower and I have to say it’s made mowing so much easier! I’m a huge fan of battery operated outdoor tools so I don’t need to buy gas. I did have to teach myself to keep them charged. But now that I’m in the habit it’s so easy to just head outside and get started on my yard maintenance. Not to mention how much better for the environment it is! The Ryobi Lawn Mower also stores folded up in the garage giving you much more space for all your other garage items!
Pressure Wash Your Driveway
If you aren’t already a fan of pressure washing, I have to say it’s extremely therapeutic. Not only do I love the results, but it’s seriously my favorite summer cleaning job! Driveways take a beating, especially here in the winter when everything melts and it just feels like there’s muck everywhere. Taking a pressure washer to your driveway gets rid of all the dirt and grim that sits outside your home. It keeps any mold/mildew etc at bay… especially if you live in a humid climate. Your driveway will look almost brand new with a good pressure washing and brightening up your whole driveway and sidewalks. Also, if you have any deep stains from paint or spills pressure washing will likely remove almost anything!
For pressure washing our driveway, house, and decks we use this Ryobi Honda Gas Pressure Washer for all our needs, we also use the Ryobi Surface Cleaner for our driveway which helps speed up the process tremendously! Plus the pressure washer comes with a nozzle that is easily rotated for different needs.
Painting Decks to Add Curb Appeal
We installed all new wood decking for our front porch last year, but unfortunately there wasn’t enough time for the wood to dry out so we couldn’t paint it. This was high on our list of summer projects this year and we are so happy with the results (I’ll be doing a full reveal soon).
We started off by pressure washing the whole porch, ceiling, windows and siding to get all dirt off the porch area. After letting it fully dry we were able to finish it with the Behr Deckover simply following the manufacturers instructions.
