These coffee filter snowmen on fabric bolts are probably one of the funnest/cutest projects I have ever done with my kids!
We Love them!
Coffee Filter Snowman
I am so excited to be participating in the “12 Days of Christmas Crafts for Kids” with Claire from Polka Dot Pretties and some other great women. Yesterday Tricia from Mama Marchand’s Nest share a fun little ornament tutorial for you. Tomorrow you will find a post from Angie from Little Inspiration will be sharing something fun with you, so make sure and check those ladies out!
Here’s what you need:
– Fabric bolt (just ask at Hobby Lobby/Joann’s etc)
– 3 coffee filters per snowman
– Elmer’s Glue
– Kids scissors
– scrap pieces of paper for decorating your snowman
Now let’s make some snowmen!!
First –
Take 2 of your coffee filters and fold them in half until you get a small pie shape, then just trim off the top rounded edge (to make a smaller circle). Then do the same with the other but trim off a little more. That way you have 3 different sizes with the smallest being for the head. Then let the kids glue them onto your fabric bolt. You do have to be kind of careful with the glue tip since the coffee filters are so thin. I just had to tell my kids not to touch the glue bottle to the filters ; )
Second –
Cut out a few circles for the buttons, a triangle for the nose, more circles for the eyes, and then I just eyeballed the hat.
For the arms I had the kids cut strips of construction paper and then glue them together. This was definitely their favorite part!
Now just add your decorations and you will have a cute little snowman! I did also fold some coffee filters into long little rectangles to cover up the writing on the fabric bolts, but that just depends on the bolt you get!
Cute snowman, Happy Kids : )
I really do love these little guys… plus my kids made them so they are kind of like gold! : )
what a cute idea..and to use a fabric bolt behind it – love it…this will be perfect for kiddos and cousins to do for Christmas.
So cute !!! I need grandchildren !!!
What an incredibly sweet craft to do with kids!! Love it Ashley!!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about lenticular filter housing.
Regards
Very cute! I pinned it as a craft to do with my grandchildren. If you don’t mind another suggestion to eliminate cutting of the snowman body parts ; is to use two different size coffee filters instead (they come in small and large) plus use a large cupcake liner for the head and mount the snowman on a piece of poster board or similar. (All four supplies are usually carried by $-Stores.) ☺ -Brenda-
P.S: I also plan to do some Angels and will use mini loaf liners for the wings as one fold will also make them 3-D.
How cute!! I would love to see those : )
Ohhh cupcake liners for the head is an adorable idea!! Those would even be cute to make mini ones with all the fun different holiday cupcake liners! Thanks for the idea : )
You are welcome. Have fun! ☺ -Brenda-
What a wonderful idea! I am planning to do this for the nonprofit afterschool program I work for’s family night in December!
