Good morning everyone! Today I’m over at Love Grows Wild sharing this month’s contributor post! Since the winter is kinda awful this year and I can’t go outside and paint my kitchen cabinets, I thought I would get some decorations ready for when I do finally get to paint those hideously ugly hunks of wood!
DIY Rustic Wood Shim Vase
This beautiful vase is made from wood shims! Gosh I sure love anything that I can make look expensive for just a few dollars. I already had the vase on hand, but the shims were under $2.00, you just can’t beat that! I always tell my husband that since it rained on our wedding day, and I didn’t get to have my outdoor wedding that we will just have to do it all over again ; ) Plus I’m a little jealous Pinterest wasn’t around while I was planning my wedding. I’m thinking these would make BEAUTIFUL wedding centerpieces. Either that or we may just run a way to Hawaii and never come back. Hmm… decisions decisions! lol

Want to know how I got those shims to look so… not like shims? Check out my tutorials below ; ) I have some more plans for these little wooden shims that I will be sharing while I wait for this snow to melt!
Have a beautiful day!

Thanks Katie! It’s so easy once you get past the “weathering” process : )
This is so cool and it made me smile that you used shims!! Approximately how wide is the vase you used?
Hi Christina, so glad you like it! The diameter is about 5 inches across. Thanks so much for stopping by!
I like how the weathered wood is merely cheap wood shims treated with vinegar and coffee to make them appear weathered.
