Rustic Glam Christmas Tree
Before I go on to tell you about this tree, I have to let you in on a little secret. This tree is fake…. yes FAKE! Can you believe it? After going through Balsam Hill’s Artificial Christmas Tree Page to help me figure out which one would work for me I decided on the Shasta Fir Tree from Balsam Hill, and I am truly in love! If you aren’t familiar with Balsam Hill, not only do they sale gorgeous Christmas Trees, but you can also find beautiful garlands, wreaths, and more! You might have also seen their trees on Rachel Ray’s Show or in some of your favorite magazines, just sayin, they are quite fantastic!
Now I learned a lot about photographing Christmas Trees for this post… it.is.not.easy! I took pictures pretty much at every time of the day and finally I was able to figure it out. While I am by no means a professional photographer, I do love taking pictures! I think I’m a little partial to the nighttime photos… It’s like the lights come to life and start dancing around the Christmas Tree as if they are so happy to be out of their box! I’m happy too : )
Ok, let’s dive in at my favorite part… the bottom of the tree. I love love love how close these branches come to the floor, it really makes it feel real! Plus it allows me to look at my thrifty tree skirt. Can you guess what I made it out of?
Yup, it’s drop cloth. In case you couldn’t tell from my garland, I am having a small love affair with drop cloth right now. What you see wrapped around the bottom of this tree is the left overs from making that garland.
My inspiration from this tree came from my slight obsession with gold this year. I admit, I’m not usually a huge fan of gold, but I am loving it this year. I always love everything vintage and old too so that is how I came to my decision on a Rustic Glam Christmas Tree. I was instantly drawn to these flat finished white bulbs I found at Hobby Lobby. They were my perfect bridge between the glam and the rustic feel. I had the wood slices that screamed rustic, the gold glitter that screamed glam, but I felt like I needed a middle ground. Adding the bright white ornaments just filled that gap perfectly for me!
My other favorite thing about this tree: The Branches ….because of Balsam Hill’s True Needle Technology, the branches aren’t your every day artificial tree branches. The subtle color variations and feel of the branches are so realistic, but best of all… they hold up my ornaments. One of the biggest obstacles for me when decorating a Christmas tree is when you hang an ornament that has some weight to it, it pulls the branch way down… then it’s not where you want it and you have to keep moving it. With this tree… where I put the ornament, there the ornament stayed!
So what do you think… did you know you could have a fake tree that looks so unbelievably real? Well… you might just have to check back later this week because maybe, just maybe Balsam Hill will be hosting a super fantastic giveaway! ; )
What theme are you going with this year? I am a Christmas Tree Junkie, so leave a link of your tree in the comments and I’d love to come take a look!
If you love this tree… you might love my Rustic Christmas Mantel too ; )

Absolutely lovely. I decorated one of my trees with roses and burlap for my family room and I’m working on vintage/victorian one today for my living room and your tree is exactly what I’m planning to accomplish. Glam/vintage! Great job.

Ashley this is beautiful. I can’t believe it looks so real and to have a tree where the limbs don’t go down 5 inches when I hang a glass ornament on it would be heaven!
