A few days ago I was driving home from the grocery store with dinner on my mind. WHAT?!
A garage sale at 4:30 in the afternoon with a chair sitting at the end of the driveway?
So, remembering that I have frozen food and that it is only on the next street, I go unload throw my groceries at my husband and tell him I’ll be back.
I get there and its gone. AT 4:30.. seriously? So I get out and they were loading it up to take it away I suppose.
*sigh of relief*
I have been wanted to reupholster something SO bad lately. I have no idea how to do it or where to start, but I am going to do it! So here is my first practice piece.
It’s Ugly. It’s Old. It’s perfect.
I have sort of a thing with used furniture. Mainly because I know what my kids do on my furniture.. but I also know that I clean whatever it is up.. and I know that other people don’t. Its just something I can’t get out of my head..
However, I love a good used piece of furniture. So the thought of replacing the fabric and such puts a little ease to my mind.
Because it needs some help! Now you might not be able to tell, but this chair actually sits quite low. My daughter loves it… she thinks its hers : ) It’s an oddly comfortable hieght. Although I am only 5’2 1/2″ (yes the half inch matters when you are this short). I doubt my husband who is 6’4″ will be sitting in it much.
I thought about putting new legs on it to raise it up a bit… but I kinda like it like this. It’s part of the character of the chair.
I went the fabric store and found the PERFECT fabric and it’s only 49.99 a yard – 50% off I’m still looking at 25 bucks a yard! EEK. Not sure if I want to test it out with that much money. Maybe once I know what I’m doing.
So I am either going to use something like this.
or try it out in muslin first, and then use my dream fabric (below). I have to say it is much prettier in person. I took this with my phone because the picture online does not even look close to this! (why I’m not a huge fan of buying fabric online) Anyways.. what do you think? Which fabric do you like more?
So stay tuned for my tutorial/figure it out as I go method of reupholstering!
Unless this whole project is a big fat FAIL!

I love the lines of that chair! Very cool and I think it'll be easily upholstered.
I've never tackled such a project before either, looks like fun! I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's done and I love the fabric.
I have a chair in the Family room just begging me for some new clothes…Can't wait to see how you go about this!
Great find. Good luck! I look forward to seeing the final product!

Can't wait to see how it turns out – I've got the same itch to try upholstery.
I already kind of love it! I'm excited to see what you do with it. :)
very cool! I wish I had an eye for things like that– I never think that the chair on the side of the road could be a masterpiece! Its a gift I suppose and you've got it! Look forward to seeing the end result! I'm sure it will be great as all things you make are!
I think I might like the first one better but yea that is expensive! Good luck!!
And you and your husband are like me and my husband! I am 5'4 1/2" and he is 6'8" :)
This is a great chair and it will look fab once redone. What a great find. Reupholstering is alot easier than you think, I did a whole bunch of chairs recently and was quite surprised how easy it was. Getting the old material off was the hardest and most time consuming part.
Good luck! I've tackled a chair some months back for the first time! Luckily it turned out to be a big win for me! I know you can do it!
Good luck, Ashley! I love both fabrics – so hard to choose. Can't wait to see the transformation (hope you'll share some tips too!).

Now that’s what we call the art and the way you make this chair beautifull is appreciatable. The https://www.dissertation-service.org/ also appreciate this in their upcoming series so that we can share with others.
I saw this request made by a number of people and thought to myself: visitors to my current post will be less likely to muddle through comments to see my previous post. regards https://www.getyourpetcertified.org/
When I, writer from https://writeanypapers.com/ was looking for a new chair for her home, she came across The Ugly-Chair. The oversized, vintage-looking furniture had been passed down through her family and had to be replaced. She decided to get it redone and chose among 600 fabrics from Hallagan to make it even uglier. Although the original chair was not in bad shape, it was in need of a makeover and needed a new coat of paint.
