This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Trane Residential. All opinions are 100% mine. Whether your allergy symptoms are mild or severe, you can still enjoy Spring. Here are 7 Easy Ways You Can Reduce Seasonal Allergies.
I don’t know about you but I am SO excited for the glimpses of Spring we are seeing! It’s always a bit later here in Wisconsin than most of the US. However the only thing I don’t look forward to this time of year are my seasonal allergies! It’s always the worst when everything is coated in pollen and the trees and flowers are in full bloom. But I don’t let that stop me from enjoying the indoors and outdoors. So here are a 7 Ways to Reduce Seasonal Allergies that help me this time of year!
Keep Doors and Windows Closed (& use indoor AC)
When we’re coming right out of winter it’s tempting to open our windows wide to let the breeze blow through. Instead, to prevent your allergies from getting worse indoors opt to keep your windows and doors closed. Those of us who are sensitive to dust and pollen need to retreat to our indoor air. If we leave windows open during Spring, dust and pollen get into the house and settle leaving you suffering from allergies in your own home. Using your HVAC system to keep your home comfortable is a better choice. In fact, Trane offers the CleanEffects Whole-Home Air Filtration System, which uses revolutionary technology to let your HVAC system remove up to 99.8 percent of airborne particles from the air which can reduce harmful bacterial and allergens from the home.
CleanEffects is it 8 times more effective than even the best HEPA room filters and up to 100 times more effective than a standard 1-inch filter. Trane CleanEffects is also certified as asthma and allergy friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, and does not require any costly replacement filters but one that can be cleaned at home every 60-90 days.
Trane always aims to exceed industry standards with its high-quality products, from its core offerings to its tools to improve home indoor air quality, you can be assured there is a reliable Trane option for every family’s needs.
Use High Quality Filters
Using your air conditioner vs open windows is a great start, but if you use disposable HVAC filters, you need to make sure you use one with a MERV rating of 11 or higher. A good choice is the Trane Comfort Performance Filter, which is available in a variety of sizes and can be used in nearly any HVAC unit.
As we walk around, both in and outside outside, our shoes pick up all kinds of debris. Make sure to remove your shoes before entering your home. If you have a mud room or entryway, keep all shoes in one area to prevent the spread of pollen. You definitely don’t want that pollen embedding itself in your carpet and rugs!
Vacuum & Clean Floors Regularly
During Allergy season I suggest keeping floors as clean as possible. We easily track in dirt, dust, and pollen when we enter our doors (even with taking our shoes off). Vacuuming and cleaning floors regularly help keep those irritants minimal.
Wash Bedding and other Textiles
As daily life continues, we will end up with some dust and pollen in our homes. Making sure to keep textiles clean will keep pollutants from making themselves comfortable in our homes! Set up a schedule and make sure you are keeping beds, towels, and clothing washed. Also, I suggest air drying any clothes/linens indoors rather than on a clothesline, or utilize your dryer when possible.
Sometimes medicine is necessary to keep your allergy symptoms at bay. If you aren’t a fan of taking it on a regular basis, consider taking it only when you will be spending time outdoors. This helps prevent and lessen the symptoms commonly experienced when engaging in activities outside.
Know your limits. Check the weather and be well informed of the daily forecast. If pollen counts will be high then make that a day you get indoor activities taken care of and save the errand running and outdoor plans for a day when the weather is more accommodating.
I hope these tips help you to enjoy this wonderful season to your fullest potential!
