It’s mid August which means it’s totally acceptable to start sharing Fall projects right? Don’t hate me, it’s an “early” Fall project, so it’s not like I’m throwing pumpkins out on my table…. yet! I can’t help it, Fall is my favorite season by far, the weather is perfect and my family loves it because it puts me in the mood to cook, it’s a win win for the family! Today I’m going to talk to you about this Early Fall Centerpiece and how easy it is to make!
For this project I used the new Waverly Inspirations Chalk Finish Acrylic Paint. It’s a new paint found at Walmart that not only comes in multiple colors, but coordinates with their Waverly Inspirations fabric line. I was challenged to create a project inspired by one of their fabrics and the coordinating paints.
Since you guys know I don’t do color well in my decor I knew I’d be painting with these gorgeous neutral colors. The Mineral paint has a warmness too it and you know how much I DO love gray! Since I don’t paint with color too often, I wanted to pull these colors in with something else. As I started creating this little centerpiece I knew it would end up being Fall inspired with those reddish/orangish colors!
This New Waverly Inspirations Collection includes paints for home décor accents and fabric, stencils, brushes, tools, and surfaces. You can find several different formulas, including Chalk, Super Premium and High Gloss depending on your needs. The Chalk Finish Acrylic Paint that I used requires no prep and distresses easily (which you know I love), and is overall easy to work with. With this new Waverly Inspiration line you are sure to create a beautiful project with coordinating paints, fabric, and stencils.
So let’s get started making the world’s easiest centerpiece!
Supplies:
- Mini Wooden Crates (find at Walmart or local craft stores)
- Waverly Inspirations Chalk Finish Acrylic Paint (I used the colors: Mineral & Cashew)
- Waverly Inspirations Clear Wax
- Waverly Inspirations Paint Brushes
- Small Glass Vases
- Faux Floral of your choice
How to Create an Early Fall Centerpiece
To get started, you just need to paint your crates with the Waverly Inspirations Paint Brushes. This is the tough part…. seriously. I mixed the Mineral and Cashew paint together just because I wanted a softer gray. Set aside the crates and let the paint dry.
Then just seal it with the Waverly Inspirations Clear Wax and let it all dry.
Set a Glass vase in the crate and fill it with the floral stems you have chosen.
I set all the crates out on my table and knew it needed a little something else, and I just so happened to have a few pieces of driftwood I picked up from our last camping trip. I feel like the driftwood adds a little interest to the crates without taking away from the simplicity of this centerpiece.
And that’s it. See… easy right? I hope that wasn’t too much Fall for you! ; )
It’s perfect. And the driftwood is a nice transition element from Summer to Fall. I’m like you, LOVE Fall. I’ve never heard of this paint before so thanks! I love chalk paint so nice to see it coming out more in craft supplies.
Those are adorable! I love the tiny crates! So festive and yet neutral at the same time…I want these in my house!

So pretty and so easy I love it!
Love your centerpiece. very creative! It makes me want to go outside and pick some colorful things for my table.
Love mini-crates, have to get some. We have small house, including l/r so these adorable mini-crates would be perfect for arrangement. Your centerpiece is so doggoned cute, love flowers used in them and colors used to paint mini-crates.
Our l/r is painted very light gray so they would blend in very nicely on coffee table or end table. Loving your project.
Have wonderful Fall weekend
These are simply adorable!
