Valentine’s Day is coming up, so I thought I would share a simple and fun breakfast idea, Heart Shaped Egg in a Hole! This breakfast is so much fun for the whole family and it makes for a fast and delicious meal everyone will adore. Egg in a hole is a family favorite around my house, sometimes we even have this meal for an easy dinner option. If you have not tried this fun breakfast, I promise you will not be disappointed.
This breakfast is not just fun for Valentine’s Day, but for any day of the year. It is a great way to say I love you to someone special. Don’t forget to toast the cute little heart shaped bread pieces because that is what makes me smile…I guess it is the little things in life! I know you are ready for the recipe, so let’s get cooking!
First cut a 2 inch heart in the center of the bread using a heart shaped cookie cutter. Then butter both sides of the bread. Next, heat griddle or skillet on medium to medium low heat and melt 1/4 TBSP butter. Lay bread on the griddle or frying pan and crack an egg in the hole. Season with salt and pepper and cook for about 2 minutes or until lightly toasted. Flip the egg in a heart and season with salt and pepper. Cook another 2 – 3 minutes for a runny yolk, or slightly longer for a set egg. Don’t forget to toast the heart shaped bread :)
