This post is sponsored by Hoover, however all opinions are 100% my own! Childhood Chores are a big area of growth for our children and help emphasize responsibility and the importance of hard work. I’m sharing how we use the new Hoover OnePWR products to teach our kids how to clean!
They always tell you parenting is hard, but when that first baby is sitting so delicately inside your stomach with tiny little flutters you think to yourself “this will be easy, I’m going to love my baby and teacher them how to be sweet human beings”. Yes… you will be able to teach them to be sweet human beings, however they will also teach YOU how difficult kids can really be.
No two kids are the same and they don’t come with an instruction manual. Yet sometimes you run across an article where women who have mothered for years can’t really give you advice, but kinda sorta talk about what might possibly work for your kids because it works 10% of the time for her own. If you don’t understand that statement… you will as soon as your kids can talk. ;) So today, let’s talk about childhood chores and how important they are!
Chores for Kids with Hoover OnePWR
There have been times in my life when I have been on point with chore charts and all the organized things I can possibly do to set up a successful day for my kids. Then there are times that we are literally all running around with our heads cut off. I’m not naturally organized and I’ve accepted that. But that doesn’t mean I have to stop trying or that our schedule can’t be adaptable. I like to think that since we aren’t an organized family, I’m teaching my kids adaptability. When it comes to chores I always do my best to be consistent. The key is to never give up even if you get off course! The most exciting thing about cleaning chores specifically for my kids is when we get new toys to clean with!
Hoover sent us a few of their new products from the Hoover ONEPWR line and I’m going to show you how we incorporate these into our chore/clean up routine!
Hard Floor Cleaner | Vacuum and Mop in ONE
One of the easiest things for my kids to do is vacuum. Stick vac‘s are a great way for kids to clean, but something exciting that’s included in the ONEPWR line is the ONEPWR FloorMate JET Cordless Hard Floor Cleaner. This allows my kids to vacuum while washing for a one-step clean with cord-free convenience.
For example you can vacuum up and clean spilled cereal at the same time. And this Hard Floor Cleaner is safe for use on hardwoods, tile, laminate, and can even refresh area rugs, making it a great option for the whole family to utilize! My kids absolutely love being able to clean up messes like this in one simple step. And did I mention you can use this tool to give your rugs a little refresh?? Winning!
Chores for Older Kids
My son is finally old enough to start using him for some outdoor chores. He’s already mowing, and now with the Hoover ONEPWR Cordless Blower he’s helping keep all our outdoor surfaces clean. It can get pretty windy here in the midwest and it always feels like our porches and patios are getting dirty, so we blow them off regularly. This is an example of great chore for kids. It doesn’t have to be done perfectly, yet teaches them how to work, plus there’s nothing wrong with having a little fun with your chore ;).
This Cordless Blower is easy to hold with it’s Ergonomic Handle Design, and battery operation. It’s capable of cleaning larger hard surfaces and yards. With it’s integrated dried leaf scraper it’s the perfect yard tool for the Fall!
And just a little tip… a Cordless Blower is a fantastic way to clean off any fans. Take them outside and just watch the dust fly off! It’s oddly satisfying.
Chores for Young Kids
We’ve been doing lots of remodeling lately and my youngest loves to help. He’s by far my hardest worker and loves being given jobs. He’s not quite old enough for some of the chores, but one of his favorites is holding the shop vac for us during demo. We’ve been working specifically on our front porch and he’s always finding a way to help out. The ONEPWR High-Capactiy Wet/Dry Vac is so easy for him to pull around with the No-Tip Wheel Design featuring a 360-degree mobility and NO CORDS!
These are just a few ways we’ve been utilizing our new Hoover ONEPWR Products! But there’s so many more options. Be sure and check out their full line! Is there anything you want to learn more about? Shop the links below for a full description!

Hi Ashley,
My kitchen tile is the worst to keep clean; anything works to clean the tile but NOT the grout; also, most mops leave tile too wet. Anyway, I really liked the looks of the wet/dry and viewed the ad on Amazon. I was trying to find out about a warranty, what size the battery is and most importantly, how long the battery lasts on a charge. Ended up having to go to the Hoover website. The battery that comes with this wet/dry is 4.0AH or 20V; replacement batteries are 3.0 I assume so it can be used in the other tools. Hoover never gave a length of service time but several reviewers offered their use times: two people said the battery lasted 15-17 minutes and another said an hour……hmmm. One reviewer also said it was very loud and not to be used indoors??? The good things ALL mentioned: VERY easy to pull around, has a battery button to show how much battery life is left. Hoover stated there is a 3 yr mfg. warranty.
Not anal here, just want to know what I am getting for $200! I am running out of blab space…..grain of salt here but interesting product.
Hi Again Ashley,
Just wanted to say it was awesome to see you post about chores for your children! My family all had chores also and I do think it contributed to a good work ethic. I do want to say one thing though, it would have made such a GREAT difference if my folks could have put “chores” into a context of “team”. A family unit can be such a super team but kids don’t really figure it out….best to lay it out for them. “We all do chores because we are a team and this is our life, working together, loving each other and counting on each other”. Thanks
The wooden blinds, the ceiling fans, and the bathrooms are the worst to clean.
Keeping up with all the dog hair is a full time job around here! This would be such a great way to do a quick cleanup!
Cleaning my hardwood floors after the grandkids leave.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I absolutely agree- kids learn housekeeping skills when they help around the house or later as teens learn life skills if they take a part-time job- some time before going off to college! It’s a FACT! My husband manages a large pool of young employees and the newest ones coming out of college that end up getting FIRED before their probation period is up, are they young employees that told him they never did chores or worked before or never had a job before or during college. It’s really sad because they have never learned how to work well with others or actually DO WORK of any kind! So happy you encourage this for parents to teach their children!
Oh how I would love to win this!
The kitchen and bathrooms floors are the hardest to clean. I would love to win!
I absolutely hate cleaning my floors! A vacuum and mop in one sounds sooooo awesome!
Keeping my hardwood floors clean, yuk! I just did them this morning. So time consuming.
My floors are definitely the worst-with 4 grandsons and a Labrador, it feels like shovelling in a blizzard. I have never heard of the vacuum/mop, will def check that out!
This vacuum would sure help to clean up after 3 grandchildren and 2 dogs!
Our porch, especially during spring/summer with all the bugs and pollen. These going to make cleaning much easier and also encourage the kids to help out . Thank you for the chance to win this!!!
Maybe not necessarily the hardest thing to clean physically but mentally it’s probably the toilets thanks to my young son! ???? Aiming is not his strong suit & I have a fairly strong gag reflex. ???? Thanks for the opportunity! This would be a dream for my hard working hardwoods w/ the family of 5 + dog! Btw, kudos on the staying true to you path (& new Instagram account)! I completely identified w/ so much of what you had to say! ❤️
I would say the floors are my most difficult thing to clean.
The hardest thing to keep clean in my house is the hardwood floors. We sweep everyday but w/ dogs and dirty boots, they never stay clean!
Have to say its my kitchen floor tiles , they are pitted and no matter how hard I try they still look dirty .
My kitchen floor is the hardest to keep clean. I cook almost everyday and I have to sweep or vacuum everyday.
It really is quite ironic, but I find the most difficult thing to clean in my home is the cordless vacuum cleaner. Trying to wipe out the dust bin and clean all the filters is a real pain.
I think my kitchen floors are probably the most difficult. They are constantly getting dirty and I have yet to find any machine that gets them clean even half as well as getting down on my hands and knees and scrubbing them.
My hardwood floors are extemely hard to clean.
The dog hair is the most difficult thing to clean for me. We have a Siberian Husky and I have never seen this amount of pet hair in all my life! The Huskies really give new meaning to shedding.
The bathroom for sure!
the kitchen floors because they are tiles
My trash/recycling bin pullout is pretty hard to keep clean.
Everything- with 3 kids, 3 rescue cats and one shedding German Shepherd, lol! Your blog is beautiful- thanks for the entry.
Our bathroom is the hardest area of my home to maintain!
The most difficult thing to clean in my house are the wood floors. I have a Victorian house and I have never seen so much dust in my life. I am constantly sweeping. I don’t have a vacuum cleaner. I also have cats and dogs that contribute too. Thanks for the chance.
What an amazing machine and giveaway! I have 3 dogs full time and 3 grandkids that come around often. Keeping up with dog hair, dirty paw/footprints, kid messes, and just regular life around here is a chore all in itself. Cleaning the floors would be soooo much easier with something like this!
Like many others, we have three dogs, three cats and 2 kids. Constant in and our plus fur keep our floors a mess. I would love to have a Hoover OnePWR to clean our LVP floors. Life would be so much simpler! Thanks for the give-away!!!
I definitely struggle the most with my hardwood floors. I have yet to find the perfect way to sweep, mop, and clean them while also protecting the surface. I usually grab a microfiber cloth and do things the old fashioned way, on my hands and knees. With three kids and a dog, I feel like I am constantly cleaning them, only to have them dirty that much faster. I would love to try this OnePwr to clean my hardwood floors! Thank you!
Oh the old linoleum in the kitchen / entry way for sure…but the hardwood in the room where we keep the cat’s litter boxes is a very close second! I have to vacuum and then mop the floors at least once daily. With two cats and a dog of our own and our daughters cat on occasion I seem to be continually cleaning. How wonderful to do it all in ONE step!
Love your blog, Ashley…and thank you for the giveaway!
My stone floors
I never feel like my hardwood floors are clean using my mop. Doing cleaning in one step would be great!
The tubs in my bathrooms are really hard to clean.
I hate cleaning the bathroom
I love seeing the different products and the potential uses. It gives me ideas of how all of the products could be of great help at my home, although for my individual conditions. The floors are the hardest with 3 dogs!
My entire house is tile and area rugs. This Hoover would be perfect!
Hi,
I would have to say my entire house. I live in Arizona. My entire House is tile. It gets dusty and dirty all the time. I have a grand puppy . My daughter brings over her black lab. So I get also get dog hair. I am a senior in age. I would so love something that would help cleaning. I love your blog. Thank you for all your helpful tips. I am crossing my fingers. Than you Pam :0
My most difficult cleaning problem is keeping my kitchen floor clean. With four kids and a dog and a cat, it is almost impossible to keep my floor clean. Constantly lugging a mop and bucket is so annoying and difficult, I’d love to win a floor cleaner!!
Hands down, it’s keeping the laundry room area around the cats’ litter box clean. I’m a long time user of Hoover Floor Mate(s) and would be so excited to have this new model. It looks seriously updated from my current model!
With two kitties, my floors are the hardest to clean and keep clean
Any and all floors. We live on a forested property and currently have no porches, so the floors are hard to keep clean in any season.
Hands down, the most dificult thing to keep clean in my house are the hardwood floors!
This cleaner machines are really good. Very ideal for cleaning the house and garden.

Sometimes you can afford to contact a cleaning company that can help clean up your home. I find it really convenient. By the way, I was told about house cleaning Lynnwood the other day. I was interested in that information. If you are interested, you can check it out. I hope you find it useful.
