Happy Birthday Addison!
(Can’t believe my baby was 2 on Saturday!)
I am way beyond excited to show you this dress! If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you have probably already seen a few sneak peeks! : )
This is my very first dress to ever make! I am beyond pleased with it, it’s not perfect, but it is to me! : ) Plus Addison just wears it so well doesn’t she? I look at her and wonder how I had such a beautiful daughter!! I love that little face!!
I am still trying to process that she is 2 now! It doesn’t feel real.. of course that could have something to do with her mild obsession with me holding her 24/7! : )
Now, let’s talk about her total HATRED for photo shoots. Most people assume that since I I enjoy making crochet hats and headbands that I quite obviously have the perfect little model… WRONG! My daughter hates anything on her head… she apparently doesn’t enjoy dress up, yet she is the girliest little girl I know… something wrong with the picture?! She’s still gorgeous though!
The ONLY way I could put her down long enough to photograph her was for me to put her down and run as fast as I could and she would chase me… so I was literally sprinting with her while taking these pictures! I got a very small amount where we were standing still, and then a couple more with my husband holding her (those would be the close ups)
I suppose I can’t complain, I did get some good ones. She just did not like the crown so her hair is pretty disheveled in all the pictures, but it’s on her head and that was the important thing!
I have to say I am kinda in love with this dress! I got the pattern from Sewing in No Man’s Land.

I think my favorite part about the pattern is that the top is interchangeable with the skirt! The top works up so quick and easy! Just to warn you though I did have to alter the pattern. I cut it out exactly as I printed it and it wouldn’t even go over my daughter’s head and she wears 24 months. The skirt was perfect, but I had to mess with the top a little.
She’s probably wondering why I told her to look at her toes…Now you probably are too. It was the only way I could get her to stop running and be still for a few seconds! Gotta love those shots!
Isn’t she just so cute and little! When do they grow up and turn two?!
Even though this only lasted about 10 minutes she still needed some love from her daddy in the end! : )
Here is a close up of the crown! If I could pull it off, I would wear it! : )
There is a tutorial coming for this, probably next week sometime : )

This is ADORABLE! Happy Birthday Addison! It’s crazy how time flies. My son is turning 2 in September. Weren’t they just born?!
I’m featuring this on my Facebook page too :)
Thanks Kim! : ) Yes, pretty sure Addison was sleeping 16 hours a day just a few days ago : ( Oh how I miss the newborn stage when they just cuddle and sleep all day and look all beautiful!
Cute! love the ruffles!
It turned out great! Thanks for the tip on the sizing because that dress is on my to-do list also!!!
Come by for a visit sometime :)
Catherine
Thanks Catherine! Yes, I basically ended up having to only use the top pattern for the arm holes… the width and length you kinda have to figure it out.. I kinda guessed cause my daughter was generally sleeping while I sewed this and I was determined to finish in time. I wish I would have done the neck a little bit smaller, but it worked out good in the end.
Ashley, you did great. wow, for a first dress, that is quite the project! but I can see such sweetness in her little eyes, that you had great inspiration to have this dress come to fruition. Come link it up at our linky party http://www.finecraftguild.com/party/ and show it off!
Thanks so much Rose! : )
So super cute! You did a great job!!! Love the pink lemonade colors, too- we served pink lemonade at our wedding. :)
