My bedroom has always been the most overlooked room in the house. It’s been the dumping grounds for laundry, toys, kids, and any other little random thing the family doesn’t know what to deal with. Today that all changes! Today I’m going to share my new and improved Rustic Industrial Master Bedroom with you!
If you follow me on Facebook and Instagram then you have probably already seen a few sneak peeks. I asked all my facebook followers how I should hide my off center window. I gave them two options: Curtains or a Fake wall. Well of course everyone wanted to see the fake wall ; ) So I fake wall you got! I’ll be sharing a tutorial very soon for that, but in the meantime, isn’t it AWESOME? I love my new wall!
So just to remind of you of what this space looked like before…
And here’s the after:
Not going to lie, this is one hard space to photograph! There just doesn’t seem to be a good place to stand to get the whole room in there. So bear with me as I try to piece it together for you!
My favorite spot to stand is in the hallway right as you enter the bedroom.
From here you see all my favorite additions to this room. That rug! I love this rug! My kids fight over who gets to lay down on it, it’s so soft and fuzzy! It’s the Better Homes and Gardens Moroccan Cream Woven Area Rug. Mine is a 5×7, but they also have it available in several other sizes. It goes perfectly with my Better Homes and Gardens round mirrors!
This space has become one of my favorite places to sit in the house and drink coffee. Maybe it’s because it’s the only spot that’s actually clean right now ; )
My nightstands are a recent project I’ve done and I love the combination of the dark gray with these lamps
I have another Ikea hack for this room. I bought the Tarva Dresser and made a few little adjustments! The hardware is the same from my nightstands (Hickory Hardware) It’s not a huge dresser, but I was looking for something on the smaller side because I was determined to make room for a chair in my bedroom! I
On top of the dresser you will find some old books and little decorations that caught my eye as I wondered aimlessly around stores ; )
I always have to bring just a hint of a cottage feel to a room. It gives it that coziness I’m always searching for!
My new favorite thing is to put everything on Trays
I’m not done with this room yet, I mean are you ever really done with a room? I’m constantly changing things around!

I LOVE every detail of this room, it’s gorgeous! What a transformation from where you started out just a couple months ago!
Anna :)
Thanks so much Anna! I always loving finishing something! Every time I start something I feel like I’ll never finish it. It’s a huge weight off my shoulders when I finally accomplish my goal. Just in time for the next project ; ) xoxox
Love how you pulled it all together and created such a great look!
Thanks so much Tammy! : )
SOOOO beautiful and calming. It really remind me of my aunts farmhouse, casual, comfortable and cozy
Thanks so much! I would love to have an old farmhouse! But for now I’ll just pretend the outside matches the inside ; ) xoxox
Really beautiful, Ashley! I especially love that rug and the Tarva hack! That is great!
Thanks Chelsea!! : ) The rug is my favorite part too!
This is gorgeous! What a genius idea to create a fake wall. I have an off-centered room in my bedroom just like that. It’s the best wall for the bed, but I’m thinking of making a huge wall of curtains behind our head board to disguise the fact that it’s one little off-centered window. I love the decor you chose, it has such a clean and cozy feeling to it. And I will be picking up a set of those round mirrors…I have a wall that’s calling their name.
Thanks so much Emily! I was so close to doing the curtains too! That would have been way less time consuming ; ) Thanks for stopping by!
I love everything in your room!! It’s beautiful!!!
Thank you Crystal!! : ) It feels like it took forever, but I’m so happy to finally have a clean and decorate space to sleep in!
Wow, your bedroom is amazing. I love the wall, looks fantastic. Waiting for tutorial:)
What did you use to paint the dresser?
Thanks so much! Hoping to get that up this weekend or next week!
Your bedroom looks awesome, Ashley! I love the warm wood tones mixed with the galvanized metals. Gorgeous!
We are purchasing two Ikea Tarva dressers this week and we looooove the stain you used on yours. Are you able to share your brand and method of application? Thanks!
Hi Jennifer, I will be doing a post all about it soon, but I just did one coat of Minwax Special Walnut and 2 coats of poly acrylic. Nothing fancy ; ) And then I did drill holes to fit the hardware! When you apply the stain, just make sure to wipe of any excess! Have a great night, and thanks for stopping by!
Can you be a bit more specific on the poly acrylic? I’m trying to get the exact same finish (at least based on your photograph).
Your room looks great!! I love the planked the wall, the dresser and the wicker chair. You did a great job!
I love your bedroom. It turned out to be just beautiful! I know you are really enjoying this space!
Hi! Your bedroom is great! I love both your Ikea hacks and was wondering if you could give more details about your process. For the night stands did you just cut grooves into the existing front drawers? Also, for the Tarva dresser did you buy a wood stain or make your own? If you purchased it, can you tell me the color and if you sealed it somehow.
Thank you so much Paige! I am working on the tutorial for the nightstands right now : ) It will be up sometime today. For the Tarva Dresser I used Minwax’s “Special Walnut” and I sealed it with polyacrylic : ) Hope that helps!!
Hi, the outcome looks fantastic. I was wondering if you could let me know what color stain you used for the Tarva dresser.
Thanks
Hello — and beautiful! May I ask what stain or sealer you used on the Tarva dresser?
What stain did you use for the dresser? I am in love!!!
Thanks Sarah, It’s Special Walnut from Minwax : )
I love how simple and serene it is! What color is on your walls?
Hi Sarah, I believe it’s just Decorator’s White from Behr : ) It very close to just a standard bright white.
Hi,
I purchased the tarva and the same stain as you mentioned (special walnut minwax) and didn’t get the same effect. How long did you leave the stain on for? Do you have a tutorial posted for the tarva dressers?
Hi! I don’t recall exactly how long I let it sit, probably just a few minutes. Typically I will brush on one side, stain another, and then go back and wipe down the first side. That process has always worked pretty well for me. With the stain, make sure you stir it up pretty good (don’t shake) cause a lot of the color will sit at the bottom. The issue could be the wood idea is using. No wood is super consistent, especially at those low prices, so you could be dealing with the stain absorbing differently than mine, but it should be similar. If you want to send me a picture so I can have a better idea of what yours looks like I might be able to offer some better advice :)! you can email me here: [email protected] Thanks!!
Hi! I’m wondering what tool you used to apply the wax. Did you use a cloth or brush?
Thanks!
What did youd o for the wook in the tarva dresser to be darker?
Hey! I love the room. Wondering where your curtains are from. Love them!
Hi Rachel, the curtains are actually just some drop cloth I clipped up with the drapery rings : ) Very inexpensive!
Love it! What color stain did you use on the taller dresser?
Hi Katie, The stain is Special Walnut from Minwax : ) Thanks for stopping by!
I love your room SO much! Its got that industrial rustic vibe that I have been trying to capture lately. What stain did you use on your Tarva dresser? It’s beautiful!
Hi Ashley! Thank you SO much!! : ) I actually just posted a tutorial on my dresser here: https://cherishedbliss.com/how-to-stain-an-ikea-tarva-dresser/ Thanks for stopping by!
I love everything about this room. I just went out to get the tarva dresser and applied the wax. They are gorgeous! Just ordered a metal bed. The one you purchased is no longer available, so I purchased the Homelegance-Nottingham-Metal-Spindle-Bed on amazon. Tried to purchase the lamps, but they are not available for shipping nor pick up in my state (CA) :( Looking for an alternative, but just love those lamps because they don’t look too school-ish. Thanks for the inspiration!
I have been trying to figure out what to do with my off center window in the bedroom and you have done is genius and beautiful! My husbands first question was what does the window look like from the outside now?
Hi Michelle, Off center windows are super annoying aren’t then? lol! So we bought some blackout material from a fabric store and just tacked it up over the window so that the sun wouldn’t shine through the gaps in the wood, and also so that it wouldn’t look weird from the outside. So, it’s just a solid color from the outside. I think you can buy that fabric in black and white, so you could choose whichever color you want. : ) Hope that helps some!
