I’m so excited to do something a little new today! I want to introduce you to me very sweet friend Stacy Risenmay! She’s one of my very favorite bloggers and I know you’ll love her!! Make sure and click over to visit all her amazing projects!!
Hello! I am pumped to be posting over here on Ashley’s blog. She is the most down to earth, genuine person ever. And talented to boot! She rocks those silver locks like no one else and I am glad to call her my friend.
A quick introduction. My name is Stacy Risenmay. I have been married to my college sweetheart for almost 19 years. We have 4 boys and a French bulldog named Kevin. Life is loud, crazy, and stinky. I created my blog about 8 years ago in an attempt to remain sane and to have a place to share my ideas. I blog about everything from home decor and DIY projects to travel, kids activities, and gardening.
I love makeovers. I love to see a good before and after. It goes clea back to my Oprah watching days. Whether it was the dude wearing bagging clothes covered in more facial hair than the Geico caveman who got all cleaned up and ready for the cover of GQ, or Nate Berkus giving a tiny NYC apartment a much needed facelift, I have always loved seeing things change for the better.
I love taking a space and completely transforming it. Doing it on a budget is even more of a thrill. Here are some of my favorite spaces I have made over (but there are plenty more so you should totally still go visit my blog *wink*wink).
Mountain Themed Boy Room
Two of my boys are crazy for anything to do with nature, survival, and especially the mountains. I wanted to create a shared bedroom that reflected that. I built these L shaped beds that have storage (and a fort!) underneath. There is also a sitting area, a gallery wall, and a navy dresser with some pretty cool drawer pulls! Head over to see the full room and the before!
Vintage Green Boy Room
Speaking of little boy rooms, I did this one for a neighbor boy who LOVES green. I chose a vintage shade that reminded me of the chalkboards I had growing up. I painted the fabric for the triangle pillow and the curtains on the closet with potatoes of all things. I built the bed, painted the dresser, and a bunch of other little fun things. You can see the “bright” before and the full room HERE.
Blue and White Bathroom
I found layers dating back to when the house was built in 1938 when I gutted this bathroom. It was so fun to see the layers of old flooring and wall treatments. While we couldn’t keep the old vanity because of water damage, I was able to keep the arched nook for the shower/tub area. This room is full of DIYs including floating shelves, wallpaper, the vanity, tile, and the sliding mirror. Yep, it slides!!! See all the details for the bathroom on my blog.
Boho Teen Room
Recently my niece asked me to do a makeover on her room. She knew EXACTLY what she wanted. She had a photo of a room that she wanted me to recreate. I love this little boho room! You can see how close I got this room to the inspiration photo and see my niece’s floral wall hanging over on the blog.
Luxury Walk-In Closet
Normally all my makeovers are very inexpensive. Like the cheaper the better! I was tasked with creating a Luxury closet by a brand and they gave me a $6,000 budget. You guys, it was HARD to spend that money! In theory it sounded fun, but in reality it was challenging. I couldn’t shake the mindset of “I bet I can find that for a better price.” OR, “I could totally make that!” I managed to spend almost $5,000. New wood floors, a velvet ottoman, new closet builtins, and a STUNNING crystal chandelier. In the end, my sister and brother-in-law loved it. You can see the “his” side and the full closet over on my site.
Home Office Space
I love my office. I spend an awful lot of time in there so it should be a space that makes me happy. The before is probably the BEST before picture in the history of ever. Camo sponge painted wall with actual sand added to the paint. SAND. The trim was painted high gloss dark green. The carpet was mint green. And to add in a touch a feminine charm, black lace curtains. Yep. When we moved in, it was the first room we painted :) See the before and the full room over on my blog.
Thanks for letting me share a bit. I hope you come over and make yourself at home on my blog. I LOVE the hear from readers. Reach out if you have any questions!
And thanks for having me Ashley! You are the best :)
