Create a Modern Earthy Laundry room to do all your folding and sorting in with these design ideas!
We’ve been in our house for an amount of time where it really feels like I should be unpacked, yet I am not! Our move-in date was right at the end of the school year along with all our extracurricular activities. It just seems like we haven’t spent a solid weekend at home since we moved in. I’ve decided to start focusing on one room at a time so I can make some progress. Technically I’m always working on more than one space at a time. But I’m talking about spending all my actual work day energy getting things ready for revealing spaces! I am kicking things off with our Modern Earthy Laundry Room!
Our laundry room isn’t huge so I feel like I can get this done pretty quickly. It’s also a very necessary space to get organized since I do laundry pretty much every day! Lately, though I have had stuff piled in here and haven’t even been able to use our countertop for folding or sorting! I can’t wait to finish up this space, but first, let’s talk about the design! Black Stained Maple Cabinets – Modern Earthy Laundry Room Cabinets
One thing we decided on pretty early is that we didn’t want painted cabinets. I’m not sure if it’s just because we’ve always had some form of painted cabinets. Either way, we both had it in our head we would only do stained wood throughout our home.
I knew I wanted to incorporate some dark cabinets. Our kitchen and master bathroom both have a gorgeous medium tone stain on white oak and our floors are very light, so it made sense to go dark on some cabinetry. I will always love black cabinets so I had them do a black stain on our laundry room cabinets and our kids bathroom. I went with maple rather than white oak in these spaces because it saved us a little bit in the budget and with the dark stain the wood grain isn’t very noticeable.

It seems the older my daughter gets, the more complicated my laundry gets. We have quite a few hang dry items these days so a drying rack was a must for me. I knew didn’t want the drying rack to obstruct our walkway. When I found this AWESOME drying rack on a pulley system I knew it was the perfect fit! Here are some other ideas for drying racks as well!
We all keep a dirty clothes hamper in our rooms and then bring it to the laundry room to wash, however, I still like a place to sort laundry if necessary, and perhaps I can’t get to something right away. These hanging hampers seem like a great way to offer the capability of sorting laundry, while not taking up too much space! We’ve always had hampers with a frame, so even when they are empty, it is still taking up floor space. With hanging hampers, this allows them to be out of the way completely while not in use!
Accessories are what bring a room together, and in the laundry room, I like to keep accessories both functional and pretty! I bought these cute little lidded baskets to keep on the counter for missing socks because no matter how hard I try, there are ALWAYS missing socks! Here are a few laundry room accessories that are both functional without sacrificing style!
Titanium Washer and Dryer
I’ve always loved the look of different colored washer and dryers, so for this laundry room we went with the Titanium Electrolux Front Load Washer and Dryer. So far I’m thrilled with both of them! I will say the pedestals are necessary for comfortably loading and unloading the laundry!
