Everyone deserves a fancy dinner every once in a while. Be inspired by this Classic, Modern Christmas Tablescape to create a cozy meal for your family! This post contains affiliate links.
Just about every year I make a tablescape to go along with the season. I’m not sure why but I really love decorating a table. I think it’s because as you set each plate you imagine your family sitting there laughing and enjoying the meal and fully embracing whatever holiday you’ve gathered to celebrate. This year I set a very Classic Modern Christmas Tablescape. I wanted it to feel cozy and inviting, but still very simple.

Christmas Tablescape Decor

Usually when I’m decorating a table I’m inspired by one piece. For this set up it was the black faux fur table runner I spotted at Hobby Lobby (here’s a similar version). It just felt cozy and sleek, and as you know I’ve been shooting for a clean look these days to balance out the construction we have going on.
Here’s my video on how I approach my Tablescapes:

Fresh Fruit Table Decor Ideas
And because I always decorate with cranberries I decided to go ahead and bring in some real fruit as well. I staggered some pomegranates and pears along some garland I’ve had for a few years. (Here’s an affordable garland alternative. Mine is from Hobby Lobby, however I’m not sure if they still sell it.)

To be quite honest I think you could use this tablescape for Thanksgiving as well, maybe just leave off the mini Christmas Trees and you’d be good to go!

Cranberry Table Centerpiece
My daughter actually made the cranberry filled jars for me. She did such a great job! <3 To make these she just filled them up about halfway with water and dropped cranberries in the top until it looked good. Then we topped them off with a candle.

Mixed Metal Table Decor
For the place settings I used black silverware, hammered copper cups, galvanized chargers, white plates and a striped napkin. I really blended a lot of different finishes here, but I feel like the holidays can handle it. Sometimes you just have to break some decorating rules!

I also ended up using some fairy lights in the garland to add a little twinkle to the table in the evenings!

I know it’s not realistic to leave this set up permanently, but once you remove the plates and everything you’re left with a beautiful centerpiece, so don’t feel like it’s all for nothing! Plus I’m a firm believer that everyone should sit down to a fancy meal every once in a while!

I hope this inspired you to dress up your holidays and enjoy a meal with your family! Just remember, it never has to be perfect. This might seem a little over the top, but it’s only meant to inspire… and it’s my job! You can easily simplify this by sprinkling some fresh fruit and tea lights on the center of your table, it doesn’t have to be much, and you can always find white plates at thrift stores and mixed matched plates can add gorgeous depth! I’d love to see what you come up with! Be sure and use #cherishedbliss for anything you share on social media so I can see!
