It’s kind of funny how sometimes you have this big plan in your head of how you’re going to execute a plan, and then it completely changes in the process. That definitely happened with this year’s Christmas Tree. Originally I wanted this black and dark green look with velvet and lots of clean lines. But when I started decorating our tree it just didn’t feel right and I landed on this Modern Rustic Christmas Tree. I was craving something a little more cozy. So today I’m joining some lovely bloggers for the Home Style Blog Hop: Christmas Tree Edition hosted by Casa Watkins Living. If you’re stopping by from my sweet friend Taryn Whiteaker, Welcome, I’m so excited to have you here today!
Modern Rustic Christmas Tree
For this year’s tree I decided to go with a Cozy, Rustic Modern style. I think what brought this whole theme on was my Christmas Mantel. I did decide change my mantel up a little from a few weeks ago. But I didn’t get rid of those adorable trees, just moved them somewhere else! More on that later ;)
Last year was actually the first year I used this tree (see it here). It was actually in my son’s room because our living room was… you guessed it… a construction zone. If you’re new around here you might not get that, but we’ve basically been living in a construction zone for over a year as we completely remodel our historical home built in 1865.
Braided Yarn Garland
To start off this tree’s decor I used some yarn garland that we made. I had some big fuzzy yarn that I was going to donate, but decided to ask my mom if she would braid it for me. She did an amazing job and it adds such a gorgeous texture to this tree!
Flocked Christmas Tree Decor
I find that with flocked trees I prefer less ornaments. So I used a few basic Christmas balls in Black, White, & Copper. Then I added a few more decorative black ornaments and these bells I got from Harp Design Co. Don’t forget you can get 15% off your next order there by using my code: CHERISHEDBLISS.
Rustic Christmas Ornaments
To bring in some natural elements, I used some old wood slice ornaments I made a few years ago. Then I added some berry stems for a little pop of red.
I’ll be sharing my full Christmas Home Tour over the coming weeks and I can’t wait to finally sit down and enjoy it all! It’s been a long year and I’m really trying to wrap up a bunch of work this month so I can sit on my couch and look at this tree with a cup of hot tea in my hands.
