Happy Fall everyone! I am so excited to be joining 14 other fabulous bloggers this week to share our fall homes with you. So grab a cup of coffee and pull up a seat, you are welcome to stay as long as you like! : )
As you know from my other posts, fall is my absolute favorite season. The air is chilly, but there isn’t snow on the ground yet. I love the beautiful color that nature brings into our lives. I love the smell of pumpkin in the air, and all the warm drinks. I love being tucked under cozy blankets and those extra cuddles to keep warm. I love fall!
Fall Home Tour 2015
I went pretty simple this year. Sometimes life is just too chaotic and you have to slow down and take a breath. When I think of Fall I think of taking deep breaths and enjoying each moment, so that’s how I approached my decor this year.
You might notice I have a few new pieces in the living room. I’m pretty excited to make some changes in here, and there will be even more to come ; ) I’ve been hinting to my husband that I will be painting that dresser, but it’s one of his favorite pieces we have so he’s not very excited about that. I’ve also played around with the idea of building a whole new piece to go there and using that dresser somewhere else. What would you do?
This new Window Mirror from Hayneedle has really brightened up this corner. I have a hard time in this little spot because it’s such an awkward space, and it always seems to lack natural light. Mirrors are quite awesome in what they can do for a room aren’t they?
My absolute favorite new addition to our living room is this Jute Chevron Area Rug. It is a mix between chenille and jute so it’s much softer to the touch. It’s a great compromise when you want the look of jute AND happy feet, and happy feet means a happy husband. : )
Plus it just looks great doesn’t it??
I built a blanket ladder for our living room because I feel like we always have blankets laying everywhere. We desperately needed a place to easily put them away, and it reduces folding by half this way right? :)
The top off white blanket is also from Hayneedle and it’s the perfect fall blanket. It keeps you cozy without getting too hot, it’s the perfect thickness for this beautiful season!
For my fall mantel this year I continued on with my simplistic approach. Every year when I start decorating my mantel I always feel like I have to put so much up there because it’s such a deep and wide space. This year I was inspired by simplicity. I find it’s often too easy for me to get sucked into getting everything just right and making everything as perfect as I can get it. Although I’m still learning, I’m starting to realize that it’s not about how many pumpkins I can fit on my mantel or how many delicious loafs of pumpkin bread I can make, but about enjoying each slice of pumpkin bread, it’s about relaxing with my family and enjoying the rustle of the leaves and breeze in the air. So this year our mantel is graced with a new Recycled Glass Jug, Tobacco baskets I purchased from Decor Steals, my mini wooden ladder, and an old window screen. Thats it.
Next to the piano this year I decided to add a chair with a blanket. I wish I had some glorious reason why I decided to do this, but I did it because this is a problem corner in our house. It seems as though everyone thinks they can hide things there, myself included. I thought maybe if I filled this corner with something pretty I would be less likely to let it get away from me. So far it’s working, but it’s only been a week, I’ll keep you up to date on that ; ). I placed this Gray Throw over the chair to make it feel a little more cozy, and a few times I’ve actually caught my youngest just sitting there being all cute. Mission accomplished.
I hope you enjoyed the first part of our Fall Home Tour. I will be back Friday with our Kitchen and Dining Room, so I hope you’ll stop back by!

Oh how I love the photo with the piano. The one I grew up with and learned to play on looks almost exactly like it. It was an Elgin. Nothing sounds like these do. What a sweet memory you brought up.
Your decorating is beautiful and creative. I love old windows and have a pile I can’t wait to use. I was a stay at home Mom too, but now I am working full time. Planning on doing a home tour but it might be a while. Thanks for hosting the link party!
Awww thank you so much Patty!! Windows are pretty awesome and can be used almost anywhere… I love using them throughout our home! Home tours are lots of work and it took me a few years to be able to share part of my home, lol! Good luck and can’t wait to see yours!
Beautiful home!! I know I’m asking these questions a few months after the post but I’m wondering: a) what color/brand of stain you used on your blanket ladder, and b) if your fiddle leaf tree is real or faux :). Thank you!!
Hi Sarah, Thanks so much!! I used Minwax’s Special Walnut on the blanket ladder… and my fiddle leaf is real, but I’d love a fake one because I already killed my real one, lol :(
Have you made your tutorial for the Blanket Ladder yet? I can’t find one like this one! What size boards did you use?
Eeeeeeek, no! I’m so behind on life, lol! It’s on my list to photograph in the next few days so it should be up either next week or the week after. It’s super easy though ; )
Love all of it!!! Where did you get the metal bins?
Thanks so much Renee!! The metal bins are from the Better Homes and Gardens line at Walmart : )
You probably have it posted somewhere on your blog, but do you recall the name of the paint color on your walls? I’m looking to repaint soon and love how neutral it is.
Hi Becky, I do : ) The color is Sherwin Williams in Worldly Gray.
Hi! I love your living room! I’m about to repaint an old dresser and was looking for a nice blue. Do you remember what color paint you used on yours? It’s so pretty!!
I love the whole look. I especially like the succulents in the old tree branch planter. Was this a DIY or did you purchase it somewhere? I would really like to know how to replicate it, thanks.

This small area is really uncomfortable for me, and there never seems to be enough natural light. See: https://roofrepairsauckland.co.nz/
