Happy First day of Fall Friends!! Anyone else have the urge to bake pumpkin bread in celebration? Ok, first off, if you are here visiting from House by Hoff, WELCOME! I’m so excited to have you here! Let’s kick off this glorious day with some Fall eye candy shall we? Yesterday I shared our Fall Home Tour, but today it’s all about the porches! I’ve teamed up with some lovely ladies (links at the end of the post) to bring you this fun little Porch series hosted by Taryn at Design Dining and Diapers. So grab some coffee, or any hot drink (you know, since it is the first day of Fall and everything), and lets talk pumpkins! Here’s our Simple Fall Porch.
This is my first official “porch post” ever and I enjoyed decorating this space quite a bit more than I expected. It’s been a while since I’ve planted anything and got my hands dirty in some soil. I didn’t realize how much I missed that. There will definitely be more gardening in my future! I’ve always wanted a garden, but never had the right yard. Maybe soon!! ; )
These mums were what inspired this whole space. I spotted them at Home Depot for a great price and had to snag them up! Since I’m all about being cozy this Fall I decided on the deep purple and dark orange colors.
I went with a traditional terra cotta pot for the mums. Part of me wanted to distress them with some white paint, but for some reason I just saw the beauty in their original state. It’s very easy to want to change every little thing when your job is blogging. However, sometimes just resting in the natural beauty is a beautiful comfort.
I honestly don’t know what type of plant these beautiful orange leaves are, but I’m falling in love with their rich color and dark purple veins!
And obviously there are white pumpkins on my porch since white pumpkins do in fact trump everything in the Fall! Well… they do here anyways.
Our porch is simple, clean, and was easy to put together… all things I’m very excited about. If you haven’t taken my Fall Home Tour yet then you might not know, but my theme this year is simplicity. It’s been a long and tiring year and I just wanted to bring touches of Fall into our home without working all season long. I want to stop and smell the freshly baked bread with my kids and carve pumpkins that aren’t “blog worthy”. Sometimes blogging is so draining and I just want to be a mom, cook meals, clean the house, and enjoy my children’s laughter. Working from home is a dream come true, but it’s often hard to find that balance with work and family when your work is your home.
These Feather Pillows (affiliate link) are my newest pillow purchase. Because I have to support my own habit right? But in all seriousness I love how these pillows bring a sense of coziness to the space!
Simple Fall Porch
