Up until this very moment I managed to get ahead on our Master Bedroom Makeover for the One Room Challenge, which allowed me to work on our Breakfast Room (another fun project we are working on simultaneously). Last week while sharing my plans for this room I was able to knock out all the painting and by a miracle found somebody to install carpet for me with in days! So let’s take a look at the progress.
If you don’t remember the before or what my overall design board looks like, be sure and catch up on week 1.
If you’re following along on IG stories you know that we actually had some walls knocked down and reworked the whole hallway/entry to our room. Here is a a great progress picture I snapped that shows how we moved the door and eliminated the built in closet.
After our contractors wrapped up all the sheetrock work I got to work painting the walls.
As you can see the wood floors were in pretty rough shape, and given the condition of the flooring in the hallway outside of my bedroom we knew it went way beyond just refinishing.
Before we had carpet installed I wanted to seal the wood. Wood left unsealed is just waiting for future issues so this felt like the safest way to proceed. We simply applied two coats of primer to the floor using a roller.
After the primer dried we added our baseboards and the carpet installers were able to get everything installed in just a few hours. My dog (and the kids) were very excited to have some carpet in this house! I’m a huge fan of hardwoods, but it’s nice to have a little bit of carpet in a home!
So that’s where we are at right now! I can’t wait to take you through the design process over the next few weeks. I’ll hopefully have furniture arriving pretty soon which will make for some more exciting updates!
Be sure and follow along on Instagram Stories for all the behind the scenes looks, tips, and tricks!
Here’s my plan for the Spring 2020 One Room Challenge. It very well might change just given potential shipping delays, but I’m going to do my best to stay on track!

Looks like a big start! Does this mean you don’t have a closet in the master bedroom? No matter, you will deal with it, can’t wait to see the next step.

It was! We do still have a closet, it’s on the other side of the room, but it was originally a walk through to the entryway, but we converted that when we remodeled that space. It’s been a big giant game of tetrus, LOL
