Summer is such a beautiful time of year. The kids are laughing and running all around, bed times are extended, and there is fun to be had around every corner. I always cherish these months were we can wear flip flops and jump in the sprinkler at any time. Today is going to be the start of the great week as we begin the Simply Summer Tour with 30 amazing bloggers… all ready for summer, and I’m very excited to be participating in this Tour hosted by the every so talented Nina Hendrick, Country Living, and Birch Lane. Be sure and read through to the bottom and take a walk through all the homes!
We are still in the process of setting up our new home and have been so busy with the ebook that, to be honest, has kept us from completing a whole lot. We did manage to make some progress over the last week and got the dining room, tv wall, and a little nook in our living room all decorated for summer. It’s a work in progress, but is anything ever really “done”? ; )
We recently built this X Brace Farmhouse Style Dining Table and it has become quite the gathering place for us to eat and play cards with family. There is just something about handmade furniture that brings a little extra meaning into those times for me.
For summer we added a few fresh blooms that I picked up from Trader Joe’s and a table runner from World Market.

Our newest addition and the very first thing we hung on our walls is this Galvanized Wall Planter. Right now we have fake plants in the planter, but I’m thinking one day I’d like to add fresh herbs in there that we can pick from whenever we need herbs! However, I do have a tendency to kill things, so we shall see if it works out ; )
Our living room is still a huge work in progress, but for now I’ll show you what we’ve got : ) I recently gave you a little peek into this space with our new tv stand and chair, which is actually about to change. Remember how I mentioned I would be switching out the white bins? Well I definitely decided to change them out for some different baskets so keep an eye out for those updates!
And I’ve got one more space in our living area that I managed to put together for the summer. You know how I’ve always loved decorating the shelves of our DIY Rolling Cart Shelves right? Well, the tradition continues, especially since we still don’t have a mantel. Have I mentioned how much I miss my giant piano?? : (
Now let’s take a stroll through the outdoors!
This little table was my favorite thing to decorate this summer. Summer just means outdoors so I just loved creating this little fruit party for my kids! Seriously… how cute is that miniature table and those tiny little white chairs?? The benches and table will actually be in the ebook so SNEAK PEEK for you ; )
Sometimes I think my kids could just live off of fruit if I would let them. They barely like meat and vegetables… yeah that doesn’t happen to much either. If I threw in some raw carrots this would be their dream meal!
This cute little Mason Jar Drink Caddy from Birch Lane is just plain adorable. I love how the handle actually slides down rather than swinging off to the side, this keeps it out of the way for the kids!
The striped bowls are also from Birch Lane and are the perfect size for fruit. My kids are always asking me to get fruit out of the fridge, but I think now I’ll just wash it and keep it in these bowls so they can easily take it to the table themselves.
So there’s our little summer home tour! I hope you enjoyed stopping by! Now you can head on over to some of my friends homes!

Thanks so much Annie! : ) I don’t use color often, but when I do it’s usually yellow, lol!
Looks like you’re set to have a stunning home, looks welcoming and warm. Always so much to do with kids, hubs, and home let alone your blog and life in general. Saw so much in your home I loved, am a farmhouse galvanized accessories lover and you have quite a few things I especially go for. You have very relaxed feeling already.
Lucky kids with their own adorable little table/chairs out in your pretty yard. Moving into new home always exciting figuring out where to put everything.
Was wondering where you got the galvanized holder with partitions and 3 tall thin jars in it with flowers? Would so appreciate a reply at your convenience. Almost looked like chicken feeder.
Have great week and enjoy your new gorgeous home.
Thank you so much for the sweet comments!! : ) Yes, I believe it is a replica of a chicken feeder. I got mine at Hobby Lobby over in the basket section. I just saw another one there yesterday so hopefully they still have them. If not their online store might have one! Have a great weekend!
Gorgeous! Love your outdoor space and those finds from Birch Lane too. So cute!
Hugs, Jamie
